I had a great time here. Booking was easy. I needed to reschedule due to taifun, which was no problem as well. The location is hidden in Quarry Bay and lovely decorated. Very nice and calm atmosphere. The staff is super friendly and helpful. During my class I had the chance to create two different pieces and it was nice to experience some progress with the second one already. Unfortunately I never had the chance to finish my pieces, as I had to leave Hong Kong. However this was still and great experience and I'd come back anytime for more classes.
A very nice environment with very good teachers.
This studio is for you if you are looking for a place to learn the basics of pottery in a relaxing atmosphere. The studio proposes a set of lessons for beginners from the hand-building, wheel throwing, trimming to glazing. You are totally free to book the lesson whenever it is more convenient for you and the teachers are very kind, patient and flexible. Each lesson lasts approximately 2h30 but they really let you take your time. The studio is very spacious, modern and I deeply enjoy learning about it in this atmosphere !
Out of the 5 lessons I paid for, I only did one class which was ok. They mentioned I had to use the remainder within 6 weeks which I respect. However, I had a back injury and I informed them about it. When I was finally better and gained core strength to be able to complete the rest of the sessions (within voucher date), they refused to accommodate or understand my health issues and asked me to pay for the course again with a 10% discount. You need a strong back to do these classes. I’m not questioning their work but working in the field of inclusion and EDI, I think companies need to make reasonable adjustments on a humane level. This is lacking in many companies in Hong Kong that are so rigid with all their policies and making money when all it takes is a bit of kindness and understanding. For this reason I would not honour or recommend a place like this. Find places where there is more kindness and understanding.
1000/10 recommend this place!! Jen (the instructor) was super kind but also so good at explaining the whole pottery process. She really focused on the “why” behind the techniques, which made things click for me, like when she showed how to center the clay, it was such a game-changer for me. Studio vibes were very nice, spacious, clean, and the natural lighting was perfect. I even made my first bowl that didn’t collapse, and I’m weirdly proud of it. Definitely coming back!
